Rumor Mill Has MGM Considering PartyGaming According to rumors that began circulating around the gaming world earlier this week, U.S.-based MGM Mirage was reportedly in talks with several different international online poker providers.

However when contacted about earlier reports of possible interest by Card Player, MGM Mirage spokesperson Yvette Monet had this to say on the rapidly spreading rumors. “As to possible acquisitions, we are a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange, and, as such, we are required to disclose information about acquiring another company. Absent any activity to announce, we do not comment, or speculate about rumors."

Similar to the way acquisitions are handled on the New York Stock Exchange, on October 30, 2006, 888 was forced to announce to the London Stock Exchange that it had held “various preliminary discussions with third parties following the suspension of its U.S. activities.” Having reportedly met with PartyGaming executives (both share the same building space in Gibraltar), 888 principal owner’s the Israeli Shaked brothers, are said to be considering a merger that could align the former powerhouses of online gaming. Reportedly also in talks for a possible buy-out of 888 are British betting giant, Ladbrokes. Considered to be looking to expand its business in Asia specifically, Ladbrokes has been frequently mentioned in the media as a suitor for 888 over the last several weeks.
