USA, Las Vegas, May 20, 2005 – The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino’s $39 million meeting space expansion is open. The expansion adds more than 60,000 square feet of meeting space to the existing 100,000 square feet, making the Rio the eighth largest meetings resort in the country.

Recently named the Top Casino by Market Metrix Hospitality Index, the Rio plays an integral role in the meetings industry in Las Vegas. The Rio’s expansion keeps pace with that trend. With the expansion, meetings up to 4000 attendees can be accommodated with more than 300 different setup configurations and 80 breakout rooms from 400 square feet to 2,500 square feet.

“We are excited to be adding 60,000 square feet of space to the exiting 100,000 square feet. We are especially pleased to have more breakout rooms. Our customers have told us repeatedly that they needed large meeting rooms for general sessions and meal functions, but most of all breakout rooms of various sizes. We can now accommodate meetings of up to 4000 attendees comfortably. Many Las Vegas hotels have large meeting rooms but are not able to accommodate breakout needs.” Michael Massari, Vice President Hotel Operations said.

The 60,000 sq. ft. expansion was officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Champagne flowed as the guests were led by the Show in the Sky performers into the new Amazon Ballroom where the Taste of the Rio, featuring the Rio’s 16 restaurants, awaited them. Performers from the Rio and Harrah’s Las Vegas provided entertainment throughout the evening.
