Nevada Casino Revenues Fall Again

For January 2009, the total gaming win for the state came in at $908.5 million -- a year- over-year decrease of 14.6 percent, the board reported on Tuesday. From last July to Jan. 31, the board said gaming revenue dropped 14 percent for the fiscal year.

In December, the year-over-year gaming win, or revenue, for Nevada plummeted by 18.94 percent to $887 million.

On the Las Vegas strip, revenues were down from $598.8 million to $510.3 million, or 14.7 percent, in January, while South Lake Tahoe was the region with the biggest year- over-year decline. The region brought in $20 million in January 2009 -- $6 million less than the year before.
