Rumours of Bwin.party’s acquisition target status continue to grow

19.08.2011, Rumours of a potential takeover of online gaming operator Bwin.party, possibly by a US casino group, have gained momentum.

According to the Independent newspaper, the 45 per cent fall in the company’s share price since its formation from the merger of Bwin and PartyGaming in March of this year has led to talk of it becoming a takeover target, with Steve Wynn’s Wynn Resorts the latest touted aggressor.

It is thought that any acquisition bid would be unlikely until the destiny of the US Congress bill on the regulation of online gaming is known, but last week the name UK bookmaker William Hill, which is currently eyeing up a move into the US market, was also thrown into the ring of potential suitors.
