Rank Group calls for single rate on gambling tax

The Rank Group has called on the UK Government to set a single tax rate for online and land-based gambling. Chief executive Ian Burke said that such a move would benefit the economy through job creation and more sustainable tax generation, and reminded the coalition of their pre-election pledges, to bring the taxation of bingo in licensed clubs in line with other forms of gambling. ......
DCMS promises to monitor new Health Lottery LOTTERY John Penrose MP, the UK minister responsible for gambling, said that he would be carefully monitoring the new Health Lottery following concerns over the impact on charitable donations that its minimum level of contributions would make. He added that the DCMS would be working with the Gambling Commission and the National Lottery Commission to assess the impact on the National Lottery, which donates 28p on every £1 ticket, as opposed to the Health Lottery's 20p, before deciding whether to change regulations. ......

Global gaming revenues to reach $183bn by 2015 ONLINE Global gaming revenues will increase by 9 percent year-on-year over the next 3 years, and reach $183 billion by 2015 according to financial consultancy firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers. The expected rise will be driven by the popularity of casinos and online gaming in Asia, specifically Macau, and a current boom period in Britain, which was singled out for having the largest legal online gaming market. ......
Probability reports increase in revenues while reducing its losses MOBILE Probability Gaming's net gaming revenues increased by 41 percent, to £3,271,000, for the first half of its 2012 financial year. The mobile gambling specialist cited the rapid growth of its iPhone and Android smartphone offerings, accounting for more than 50 percent of monthly revenues by the end of the period, for also helping its pre-tax loss to decrease by 91 percent, to £65,000.
