A bill that both increases allowed wagers in limit games and also gives permission for Florida cardrooms to spread no-limit games is now a law in Florida. The new law allows no-limit games to be spread with one caveat: Player buy-ins must not exceed $100.

The law goes into effect July 1. The law also increases the amount of money than can be wagered in limit games from $2 to $5. It will also allow cardrooms to now hold card jackpots, like high hand and bad beat jackpots.

Cardrooms that are operated at the state’s racing and jai-alai stadiums will also be allowed to operate when an event isn’t planned. Before, the rooms were restricted to being operated only when something was going on at them. The law was passed by state lawmakers earlier this year. Florida's governor neither signed it nor vetoed it. If the governor in Florida doesn't take action on a bill, the bill becomes a law, as in this case.
