The Queensland Government has introduced laws into Parliament increasing the penalties for casino operators who let minors enter their premises. The amendments include fines of $7,500 for allowing people under the age of 18 to enter a casino, and a new penalty of $15,000 for allowing them to gamble. Deputy Premier Anna Bligh told Parliament the Bill also makes various other amendments to gambling laws. "The main objectives of the Bill are to strengthen the Government's stance against minors entering and gambling in casinos, to introduce a licensing regime for those persons who test gaming equipment, and to implement certain recommendations arising from a review of the gaming machine operating authority re-allocation scheme for hotels," she said. Ms Bligh has also introduced laws allowing the government-owned Stanwell and Tarong power companies to sell their wind farms.
