Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts signed a deal to manage a small casino on Canouan Island, a 3-square- mile sanctuary in the Caribbean nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the company said Friday.

The "club-style" casino in the Villa Monte Carlo will be part of a sprawling resort development that includes estate and golf villas developed separately by Donald Trump's private real estate development company. Trump is also chairman and chief executive of publicly held Trump Hotels.

The Canouan casino would be the sixth in the Trump Hotels portfolio, which includes three large casinos in Atlantic City, a riverboat casino in Gary, Ind., and management of an Indian casino in Coachella, Calif. "I like it because this gives us some exposure in the Caribbean," said Scott Butera, director of corporate and strategic development for Trump Hotels. "It's a nice way to get our brand extended to a really luxury experience."

Trump Hotels said that the casino would offer "a full array of table games." It made no mention of slots nor casino size.

Master developer Canouan Resorts Development Ltd. said Trump Hotels and Donald Trump are among several high-profile partners joining the 1,200-acre resort, scheduled to open next summer.

When completed, the resort will have 135 villas, a 156-room Raffles luxury hotel, casino, golf course and marina. Canouan Resorts said it expects the conglomerate vacation spot to attract "sophisticated, international travelers."
