Devon's soul singing sensation Joss Stone has been booked to play the home of glitz - Las Vegas.
The teenager, who celebrated her 17th birthday, will be appearing alongside Debbie Harry, Cyndi Lauper and Gladys Knight at one of the world's biggest hotels - The MGM Grand.
Joss - real name Jocelyn Stoker - has been officially declared a "diva" despite her tender years to take part in the VH1 Divas concert on the famous Strip of Las Vegas next Sunday, before up to 17,000 fans.
Despite being virtually unknown in her native land until this year, Joss, from Ashill near Cullompton, has made it big in the US with her voice already being compared to those of soul legends Aretha Fanklin and Roberta Flack. Her first album, The Soul Sessions, has sold well collecting a gold disc already and she is thrilled to be in such an all-star line-up.
Gordon Duncan, of her management company AFB, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for her and caps what has been an amazing couple of years. Joss is over the moon to be asked to play alongside some of these great stars."
The former Uffculme School pupil was signed by eagle-eyed recruiters at an American record label after winning a long-forgotten talent show called Junior Star for a Night at 13. She moved to the US to further her career two years ago and soon became a favourite on the New York music club scene.
Teenager Joss is astonished by her accolades and rocket ride to stardom. She said: "I've no idea why things are going so well. I only ever sang for fun, so I can't work out how I got here. I don't think of myself as a great singer at all. "It's all very weird for people to make comparisons with such great performers. It's strange, and embarrassing. I'm so busy now there is hardly time to think. But when I do, it really hits me."
Joss recently performed at the world-renowned South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas, and is expected to perform at this summer's Glastonbury Festival. In her short career, she has already sung at the White House and rubbed shoulders with the stars at Elton John's post-Oscar bash in Hollywood and sung live on the Saturday night Parkinson show. But keeping her feet on the ground, last December, she also found time to perform before 500 excited pupils at Colyton Grammer School after being invited to the school to sing by her older sister Lucie.
