Casino developer Steve Wynn has outlined plans for the expansion of his $2.4 billion Wynn Las Vegas megaresort that's slated to open next year.

Wynn plans to add another showroom, 18 villa suites adjacent to a golf course and expand parking. His company also reported the acquisition of 10 lots adjacent to the former Desert Inn golf course.

Wynn said he plans to demolish the remaining structures of the former Desert Inn to make way for another $500 million, 1,300-room hotel-casino tower.

Some of these steps are now under way, 11 months before the planned opening of the resort. Wynn Resorts said the cost of these improvements - not counting the planned additional casino and hotel tower - is approximately $198 million, including interest and financing fees.

Wynn's announcement this week came as analysts grow more bullish on the prospects of his Asian casino venture in Macau and his Las Vegas megaresort, the most expensive ever built in the city. The Macau casino is expected to open in mid-June 2006.
