Non-remote casino licensees must follow any rules for the playing of approved casino games (or games being trialed), or other games of chance, as prescribed by the Commission in the document Rules for casino games in Great Britain.

This document, originally published in August 2007, has now been revised to formally incorporate the three new casino games previously under trial (Pai Gow Poker, Let it Ride Poker and the four variants of Texas Hold 'em Poker) and 12 new side bets (six were part of the new games and six related to existing games).

Also, in line with the discussions with the industry, there are several additional minor amendments to the Rules of casino games in Great Britain. First there is an amendment to the "local temporary variations to the practices and rules” section of the document.

Previously the document permitted operators to make variations to the rules to accommodate minor temporary local variations, provided the Commission was notified in advance. This could include promotional offers such as better odds or a different table arrangement or cloth for a particular occasion.

The fact that a variation has to be local and temporary theoretically prohibits a minor variation being in place across all sites of an individual operator or the variation being used repeatedly. The document has been amended so that minor variations will be permitted across all of an operator's sites. Additionally in future a variation will only have to be notified to the Commission once, rather than each time it operates.

Two of the other minor changes that will be made are to offer operators the option of restricting the longest odds offered on Ultimate Texas Hold ‘em Poker and Pai Gow Poker with Fortune Side Bet, provided this is made clear to the players.

The remaining changes are: in Blackjack, to permit several players to be dealt identical cards when the game is played electronically (to permit an electronic version of the game available) in Dice, to permit a bet behind the win line to be greater than those on the win line (overseas players are used to this flexibility) in Let it Ride Poker, where a shuffle machine deals three cards to the dealer rather than the two they require, to permit either the top or bottom card to be discarded (currently the rules specify the top card, but it may be more secure to discard the bottom card to avoid players possibly catching sight of the bottom card during the deal) in the Punto Banco 'Dragon Bonus' side wager, to clarify that odds are paid on any winning hand with a third card, regardless of the score.
