China Keeps Online Gambling Crooks Running
In China the government is trying very hard to be responsible to it's people by keeping unscrupulous criminals off the streets. Their big dilema now in the twenty first century is keeping it's citizens safe from the internet criminals. The most vulnerable can be convinced so easily with fake emails and promises of riches.
Recently Chinese officials have been getting down to business when it comes to enforcing the online gambling laws currently in the massive country. A Chinese Chief of Police from Xianning City announced that his officers have just put the stop on six major gambling operations. It is thought that the raids have put a real dent into the illegal betting ring. The pinch is expected to lead to 27 arrests and almost a hundred million dollars confiscated. The raids were the result of a year-long investigation, the head of Public Security Bureau in Xianning City said. They looked into the gambling habits of tens of thousands of residents at online casinos.
Police chief Gong Dao'an said the gangs operating the Internet gaming sites had taken in over $7 billion since 2004. A police administrator was quoted, "Most of the gambling funds have flowed to overseas gambling groups through underground money laundering channels," The money seized represented what was left in domestic bank accounts, but the majority had left the country, Police chief Gong Dao'an assumed. He also said the gambling operations involved sports betting, horse racing, and card games, and that the gangs running the sites would give credit to players at very high rates. He is called on foreign authorities to look for the money offshore, adding that seven of the leaders of the gambling operations were also being sought by Interpol. If apprehended the operators would face prison terms of only three to ten years, little to deter potential violators from trying again.

July 6, 09 Online Gambling Goes to Court
July 6, 2009 is very important date for the online gambling sector internationally but especially in the USA. On that day a U.S. 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals is scheduled to render a decision in a case filed by The Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association against the US Justice Department hopefully to have the ban on online gambling in the USA declared "Unconstitutional".
iMEGA President, Joe Brennan, Jr. was recently interview by Jenny Woo an online gambling journalist of some note from Gambling 911. He was asked questions as to the status of the case and his view on the possible outcome. Jenny said, "It's been reported that the judge will hear this matter in July then render a decision some time thereafter." what is the status of your appeal.
Mr.Brennan responded,"Two things may happen at that time; one, there may be just a decision issued based on the merits of the case by the judges or they may decide on that they want to hear all oral arguments. We'll not know exactly which it's going to be until about 10 days out from that because that's the required notice that the court is allowed to give you for this. So we're kind of sitting on the edge right now. Either way, we feel pretty good about things." adding, " We've seen a lot of criticism of our initial brief."
When asked where the criticism was coming in from Mr.Brennan said, "It was from all over the industry. Everything from other people in the legal community, other people in the gaming community - it came from all corners. The thing is, you could address yourself responding to the criticism. You know - iMEGA, we have a limit on our resources here both in time and money and the people who are committed to it. There's only so much bandwidth that you have."
Mr.Brennan also said, "We feel like the case has gotten really strong. I'm really anxious about July 6th. We feel confident but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I feel a little on edge."

Online Gambling SEO Losses Mounting in USA
Search Engine Optimization is the latest technology that is very close to statistics monitoring from old school business models. The new buzz about SEO sees a new language that needs understanding and of course translated in so many ways. Search Engine Optimization is a huge business in todays rapidly changing technically linked world. The internet is the way to do things these days and a company that can provide direction in the vastness of the web through SEO is worth it's weight in gold. It happens to be big business and when the USA decided to ban an activity such as online gambling the SEO providers have been suffering. Search Engines such as Google for example, lost revenue was $9,632,382.62 million per month, or about $115 million per year.
This has been adding up since the ban, and Google isn't the only search engine. Collectively, the money that all the search engines are not generating each month is $15,004,198.40, or about $180 million per year. That could also mean lots of spin off jobs and remember these estimates are far from realistic. The $180 million annual loss figure is really an indicator of what the overall online advertising business has lost over the past several years. Banner ads on the online gambling portal web sites cost vast amonts of money. If those ads are not there neither is the artist or webmaster that designed those displays. Realistically the online gambling industry is a proven money maker for Google Yahoo and a host of other search engines. TIme will show us, as stats surface in the U.K. since the recent re-opening of Google ad placements for online gambling operators there, that it makes sense and money to use Search Engine Optimization.

Online Gambling Betfair Sets Stage at Ascot
The Betfair Story and How Two Men Changed the World of Gambling by Colin Cameron is due to be published in the near future by HarperCollins. Gambling has always attracted a certain notoriety, and this book focuses on just that notoriety. It does not however mention how Betfair is getting its money's worth in the five-year deal to take over the title sponsorship of Ascot. The book only touches upon the potential conflicts of interest that might arise as Betfair and similar companies become increasingly important sponsors of many major sporting events.
Thought to be worth in excess of £1m a year, Betfair was able to name its terms to the Queen's course. It certainly has done a smack up job of it too.
Not only does Betfair have a banner every 25 feet the length of the seven-minute walk from the station to the course but it includes six Betfair arches along the way. Stall handlers will be required to wear the Betfair logo on a bib and Betfair's distinctive branding will be visible in every stall on the Gold Cup Event Day. This is a great strategy that the marketing division at Betfair has thought of, every BBC viewer will be aware of Betfair's operations come race day. Betfair has, as the author of the 'The Betfair Story and How Two Men Changed the World of Gambling' points out Betfair has always been a company that thinks outside the box and they were lucky when their enterprise coincided with the liberal and modern regulation of betting in the UK.
Betfair will realize much more of their potential as broadband grows throughout Europe. Anyone reading this book will be fascinated by the personalities and factual content, anyone watching the Royal Ascot on BBC will be sure to see where Betfair is headed.
