Poker Champ Ivey Makes Final Table at WSOP

18.07.2009, The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event has been a brutal tournament. Players that have survived it to the final table have proved they have the stamina and skill to get there.

Phil Ivey from the Full Tilt Poker Team has made it to the final table of the most prestigious live poker tournament on the planet.

A gruelling eight days of cards and a field of 6,494 players, Phil has earned a place at the Main Event final table and a chance to take the $8.55 million USD top money. This is his first time at the WSOP and a WSOP main event win is all Ivey needs to round out his already successful career.

The final table will play out starting on November 7th, with the final nine players going for the title. Ivey's aggressive and measured style was formed in Atlantic City Casinos which he has now perfected with great unnerving results. Making it this far in the WSOP has garnered Ivey the much earned status as one of the greatest poker players in history. The man has definitely dominated the tournament this year with victories in events 8, and 25, of the total 57 event series. He is one of only seven players to ever win seven WSOP bracelets. The now 33 year old New Jersey USA native started playing at the age of 21 and has won more than $12 million USD thus far in his career. Many call him the 'Tiger Woods of Poker.'

Ivey will become the highest grossing tournament player in the history of poker if he finishes in the top seven at the final table. Every final table player will take home at least $1.25 million USD for reaching the 2009 WSOP Main Event's last challenge. Good luck to them all.
