bwin strongly rejects tax wrongdoing

06.08.2009, Leading online gaming provider, bwin, strongly rejects allegations made in the current issue of the Austrian news magazine Profil claiming that the company has not paid taxes correctly.

Bwin has always paid its taxes correctly. We are not aware of any fiscal criminal proceedings being undertaken against bwin", explains press officer Kevin O'Neal. "Such action would also be without any merit.

A routine audit initiated more than two years ago is currently still underway and has not been completed to date.

"bwin was subject of an audit between 1999 and 2001. This audit clearly answered any questions about sales/purchase tax liability and came to the conclusion that betting turnover is not liable for taxation on sales/purchase", O'Neal points out.

The company and its tax advisors as well as reputable sales/purchase tax experts take the view that there is no tax liability and bwin therefore assumes that there will be no additional claims for taxation.
