Bwin to Screen Primera and Segunda Online
Online gambling firm Bwin has managed to secure the internet broadcasting rights for the top two divisions of football in Spain. The Bwin company which is formerly known as betandwin, was founded in 1997 and has been listed on the Stock Exchange since 2000. Based in Gibraltar, they are not so big in the U.K. although the company has huge presence across Europe, especially in countries such as Spain and Germany to the extent where they now claim to have over a million customers worldwide.

Company co-chief executive Manfred Bodner, said of the acquistion, "Bwin has become one of the leading live sports broadcasters,"adding, "Like no other web platform, bwin.com offers an unprecedented choice of different sports, ranging from football to roller hockey. We are at the leading edge of the market and continue to expand our line-up, as we've done now with the Primera División games."

The company will be showing the Primera and Segunda Divisións of La Liga for the next three years. Bwin has a similar partnership in place with Germany's Bundesliga, adding to the scope of the firm's ambitions in Europe. This is a pan-European company which has an In-Play service offering a range of pre-match and live betting opportunities on football matches and other sporting events from around the world. They’re quick when it comes to putting up their odds, responding to a customer query or paying out on a bet. Bwin,has a strong service for Formula 1 racing, tennis and basketball which are all popular sports in Spain.Bwin will will now be showing La Liga games in excess of 30 European countries including Germany and Austria, and for 50 other countries worldwide.

The contract is thought to be worth in the range of $4 million USD per annum, which may include revenue-sharing factors.

Online Gambling's Cryptologic Frets Marvel Disney Deal
Disney Studios recent acquisition of the Marvel Brand super hero characters, may affect the fortunes of the online software developer Cryptologic. The move by Disney who have for the most part kept a very neat and clean reputation in the entertainment world has caused a little concern for Cryptologic executives.

This $4 billion acquisition of Marvel by the Disney organisation in August raises some interesting questions regarding these licensing contracts. Industry observers think it is highly unlikely that the deal will have any affect on the licencing agreements reached with Cryptologic in the short run although as time for renewal approaches there may be some reconsideration on the side of the Marvel Brand.

The Marvel slot section for online casinos is one of Cryptologic's most popular software programs. The great graphics and many jackpot options have players wanting more all the time. Some online casino analysts have weighed in on the subject saying that Disney may be against the online gambling industry, but no official comment has come out as yet.

This deal is a great reward for long time shareholders of Marvel, although there will probably be those who will feel that the deal is undervalued based on the future potential of the company. This is a big acquisition, even for Disney. At over 22 times 2010 consensus EPS estimates for Marvel, Disney is setting the bar fairly high for doing more with Marvel than just taking in its licensing revenue. And according to one analyst it's unclear if existing licensing agreements could impact the timing of when Disney can fully exploit Marvel's library.
