15.05.2010, France: Constitutional Council clears new egaming laws / Endemol Italy and 888 Online Gambling Join Forces / Spread Bet Gambling Online Increases in UK / Novomatic shows strong results in Mexico

France: Constitutional Council clears new egaming laws
French Constitutional Council, the highest constitutional authority in the country, has declared that new laws regulating online gaming are constitutional, paving the way for a French egaming licence system.

The decision follows an appeal to the Council by the French Socialist Party in the wake of the law being voted in by the National Assembly on 6 April.

It dismisses all the complaints against the regulation presented by its opponents, which included that the law infringes the public’s right to health protection and that it contravenes the principle of equality in taxation, and will lead to the creation of the new Autorité de Régulation des Jeux en Ligne (ARJEL) egaming regulator.

Official decrees providing details of the regulation such as tax rates, which products will be authorised and how the regulation will function will be published by French budget minister François Baroin shortly.

Endemol Italy and 888 Online Gambling Join Forces
A joint venture has been announced recently involving media giant Endemol Italy and notable online gambling company 888 Holdings. The joint venture set to launch in the last half of 2010 will see a major new line up of branded games including Big Brother and Deal or No Deal. Endemol is an international production company based in the Netherlands with subsidiaries and joint ventures in twenty three countries around the world. Spread Bet Gambling Online Increases in UK
There are many forms of gambling on the planet from horse racing to hockey people bet on everything, sometimes on a hunch sometimes on a tip and sometimes on solid research. Whatever your particular method or area of interest placing your money on the line is the hardest first step. Being prepared to lose is always a good start but knowing how to win is probably better. One field of wagering that has seen it's fair share of controversy over the years is financial spread betting. Which since it's inception back in the seventies has become increasingly more popular and professional. In a nutshell, financial spread betting involves betting on shares, bonds, interest rates, currencies, indices, options and commodities. Bookmakers quote a spread for each bet giving the gambler a chance to agree or disagree and go long or go short.

The advantages of spread betting over fixed odds betting are that it is more flexible than for markets or events that involve points rather than a win/lose outcome. You don’t have to wait for the expiry of the bet before cashing in losses or winnings, bets can be closed at any time at the spread quoted by your bookmaker at that moment. The disadvantage compared to fixed-odds betting is that you stand to lose a lot more than your stake, although with some financial spread bets, it is possible to fix a “stop- loss” limit with the bookmaker, which limits your losses without limiting your winnings. Approximately 30,000 spread bet accounts were opened last year, 2009 and the largest study of gambling in the UK on behalf of the Gambling Commission found that serious problems developed in almost 15% of spread betters compared to 1% of other gambling. Being prepared and informed when getting into this form of online gambling can minimize risks and keep participation within reasonable boundaries.

Novomatic shows strong results in Mexico
Following the ELA gaming show 2010 in Mexico, Austrian Gaming Industries (AGI), the wholly owned subsidiary of the Novomatic Group of Companies and its recently established subsidiary Crown Gaming Mexico, reported strong results at the end of an extremely satisfying event

The Novomatic group has been active in the Mexican market since the establishment of the regulatory framework for Class III gaming and has seen increasingly keen interest in its products and services. The Mexican operators have proved to be highly satisfied with the above-average performance of Novomatic gaming equipment, and as a result the interest noted on ELA booth was intense. All major Mexican operators made sure to visit the Novomatic booth in order to see for themselves the latest product highlights for this vibrant market.

On display were market-specific and international product innovations including Novomatic’s best selling machine, the Super-V+ Gaminator as well as the Novo Super- Vision presenting the latest Coolfire II multi-game mixes. Novomatic also presented the two-level Community Flexi-Link Jackpot at ELA in combination with a bank of Super-V+ Gaminator machines; using the third machine screen for the Powerlink jackpot information display.

For the first time in Mexico, visitors experienced a live presentation of Coolfire I+ Ultimate 10 multi-game mixes – the first of a growing range of Coolfire I+ mixes which will be made available in the ever popular Gaminator cabinet.
