Casino City Press Launches 12th edition Internet Gambling Report
In many ways the internet is still backed up by the printed word. The fact that reports printed with real ink on paper are still bought and created is testament to the longevity of a book. Casino City Press recently released the 710-page 12th edition of Casino City’s Internet Gambling Report, which has the more intriguing subtitle of, “An Evolving Conflict between Technology and Law,” Sportingbet’s Executive Director, Mark Blanford, was quoted as saying, the Internet Gambling Report is “quite simply the definitive industry reference guide,” The top online gambling and casino legal experts have compiled the report reviewing and documenting the latest technological, business, and social political infrastructure information pertinent to the internet wagering industry. Norbert Teufelberger, Co-Chief Executive Officer of bwin.com, also made a comment on the report calling it “the best commercial resource for industry legal and regulatory developments around the world.” The Casino City Internet Gambling Report has covered all the bases with an index of issues such as data sharing regulations service provider understanding and privacy. Almost every jurisdiction in the world is reviewed from various standpoints. A simple to read presentation gives the book that added advantage of easy information access with at a glance summaries of business statistics and current climate. The legal and regulatory changes in jurisdictions such as the U.K. Denmark, Canada, and Latin America among others are discussed at length on each topic in the extensive and comprehensive report. The editor of Casino City’s Internet Gambling Report, Vin Narayanan, proudly announced, “We worked with an excellent team of experts to update the book, paying particular attention to the dramatic legal developments in the European markets, where European nations and the European Court of Justices have rejected – for the most part – the one-market approach to gambling in favor of a nation-by-nation scheme to regulate online gambling.”

Russia Trying to Close Online Gambling Loophole
The efforts in Russia to keep gambling in it’s place out of sight and out of mind have taken on a new and more restrictive attitude recently. Back in 2009 the Russian government decided it would prohibit gambling everywhere except in four far flung regions of the vast country. Apparently this action has been sum what effective in stemming the proliferation of casinos and betting stalls in the major cities in Russia. Sports wagering was the only type of gambling that was left out of the prohibition measures. A new bill that has been introduced by Ivan Savvidi, proposes fines of up to 2000 roubles to be imposed on individuals gambling outside of the official gambling zones by applying the use of mobile networks and the internet. Savvidi commented to the Gazeta.ru., “Previously the law only concerned organisers of gambling, and now the gamblers themselves will also be responsible,” This puts a lid on the online poker and casino activities that have been popular since the government ban on gambling in Russia. Explaining the urgency of the proposed bill a note was added suggesting underage gambling is taking place and this bill will curtail the problem. Russian entrepreneurs have been circumventing the current ban by changing the name of their establishments. They have continued to operate as elite lottery clubs, and the number of computer clubs went from 23 to 98 in Moscow. The crack down on these information service clubs has been swift with the closing down recently of 78 so called lottery clubs and the seizure of over 3000 pieces of equipment. There is asecond bill waiting to be approved that attempts to define illegal slot machines more clearly in order to close various loopholes. Federation Council member Alexander Pochinok who is proposing the second bill said, “I have been looking for a definition of slot machine for a long time and finally found it,” adding, “It is the most important part of my bill.” If the amendments are accepted, using of these machines will be banned.

Christmas Turkey and A Little Online Gambling Trend
We have an entertainment based society that has so many choices these days that its hard to outdo the last gadget or device that just gave you hours of enjoyment. But as the inventors keep on inventing and the designers keep on designing and the artists keep on keeping it all interesting we will keep buying the latest. Big screen TV’s are common everywhere there’s room and most have a computer port now and that’s an instant casino and excitement at home. A recent report suggested that during the holidays in almost every part of the world, after the kids have gone to bed and the same old Christmas reruns are over the casinos screen is started and online gambling begins. It is thought to be a old fashioned thing to do around New Years to gamble a little and take a chance at the auspicious time.

The UK-based online casino 32Red.com had a similar event take place at this time last year when their online traffic peaked on Christmas day. This year they are introducing a for cash online blackjack application so are expecting even more prominent surge.

Local television broadcasters have made their vacation plans and are giving the public the details of repeats that will include a record 860 hours over the holiday season. Ed Ware, chief executive officer of 32Red plc, commented, “We've seen a surge in mobile activity generally and during last year's holiday period this peaked on Christmas Day,” Ware added, “We'd wondered if there would be a drop in the number of players while people tucked into their turkeys and gathered round the TV with family but the opposite happened.” Mr.Ware went on to say, “We can only think people are getting fed up with watching TV reruns and choose to play our mobile casino instead. I guess the chance of winning a hand of blackjack, or even our Mega Moolah mobile slot with its £1million jackpot is more appealing than seeing Dell Boy again!”

New PwC Report Suggests Mobile Gambling Ready to Surge
According to a news item on the Black Jack Champ web site a report issued by Price Waterhouse Cooper called ‘Playing to Win’ suggests that the developed nations in the East will eclipse the Western nations in gambling revenues. The report analyzes trends in the online and mobile gambling industry up until the year 2014. The paper goes in depth to describe the gambling industry until 2014 suggesting the scenario will remain relatively unchanged from what the industry is experience at the present. The large and well established online gambling operators and industry leaders will still maintain a healthy potion of the global gambling market and those who are on the ball will reap the benefits of a surging mobile and internet based market share. The Asian Pacific spend will out strip the declining western spend in the next few years fueled by the growing mobile trend and rising disposable incomes. ‘Playing to Win’ has brought many aspects of the gambling market into the report, describing the regulatory complexities as being one of the largest variables in the changing gambling marketplace. Internet jurisdictions and mobile rules and penetration all factor into the mix for a predication that is accurate. There are so many conflicting and ambiguous laws and regulations in so many different parts of the world that have led to confusion and legal issues among operators, government officials, and even consumers who just want to play and feel secure. The report categorizes gambling into six sectors or interest, casino gambling, online poker rooms, online bingo halls, online betting on horses, online betting on sports, and online lotteries. David Trunkfield an analyst and gaming expert commented, “We believe that there will have to be an easing of the current restrictions. Consumers will engage in online gaming whether it’s legal or illegal and by legalizing the industry, governments would recoup valuable tax revenues which are much needed following the impact of the financial crises on public sector finances. We believe that the next five years will see an evolution rather than a revolution in the global gaming industry, but as evolutions go it will be rapid and pervasive and far more sweeping than the change seen in the past decade.”
