NEW YORK, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Casino gaming revenue in Nevada increased 7.5 percent in August from the same period last year, helped by high-end gamblers on the Las Vegas Strip, the state Gaming Control Board said on Tuesday. The volume at baccarat, a high-end table game, was up 83 percent during the month, said Frank Streshley, an analyst at the Nevada Gaming Control Board. "The slot win is softening a little bit," Streshley added. "The market is definitely benefiting from very strong high end play."

Gambling revenue, known as gaming win, rose to $1.06 billion in August from $989.1 million a year earlier, while the state government collected $67 million in percentage fees in September, up 8.3 percent from a year earlier. Revenue from baccarat alone accounted for $40 million of the increase in gaming win, Streshley said. On the Las Vegas Strip -- the heart of Nevada's casino industry -- gaming win increased 14.3 percent to $556.3 million from a year earlier, the state's gambling regulator said.

Las Vegas Strip properties include casinos operated by MGM Mirage (MGM.N:), Harrah's Entertainment Inc. (HET.N), Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS.N:) and Wynn Resorts Ltd. (WYNN.O:). Other major gambling companies with casinos in Nevada include Boyd Gaming Corp. (BYD.N:) and Station Casinos Inc. (STN.N:). Casinos in Reno in northern Nevada reported gaming revenue of $68.6 million, down 2.3 percent from a year earlier.
