30.06.2009, News about WSOP Pokerevents Seven Card Stud Hi-Low-8 or Better (Event 53) and Triple Chance No-Limit Hold’em (Event 52) and No-Limit Hold’em (Event 54) and 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball (Limit) (Event 55)

Triple Chance No-Limit Hold’em (Event 52)
Sunday, June 28, 2009 to Tuesday, June 30, 2009 Buy-in: $3,000 Prizepool: $2,357,040 Entries: 854

That's a Wrap The day is over, finally. Day 2 saw 149 players return from the first day of action, but now only 16 remain. Some of today's casualties included Kathy Liebert, Antonio Esfandiari, Dick Carson, Tim Horan, Kirill Gerasimov, Lee Markholt, Jeff Lisandro, and Mike Caro. Among those left in the field, Jason DeWitt has worked his way to the top of the leaderboard with over a million in chips. Play will resume tomorrow at 1:00 PM local time instead of 2:00 PM due to the fact that there is more than just the final table left. The plan is still to play all the way through until we have a winner. We'll see you back here tomorrow in the early afternoon to finish out Event No. 52.

And That's a Wrap Folks, we are done for the night. 136 runners evaporated into just 14, with Chad Brown currently in the lead and looking in excellent shape to make his second final table this Series and have himself another shot at a bracelet. We were meant to reconvene at 1pm, but the players have begged a 2pm restart -- something about Matt Savage having to play golf in the morning... Either way, join us at 2pm when we'll be in the Amazon Room, ready to play down to just one glorious winner.

Tue, 30 Jun 2009 01:11:09 That's a Wrap Day 1 of the 2009 WSOP's final $1,500 No-Limit Hold 'em event is history. 2,818 players scattered themselves around the Amazon, Brasilia and Miranda rooms this afternoon in pursuit of nearly $675,000 in first-place prize money, a gold bracelet, and a spot in WSOP history. Only 384 of them will return at 2PM to continue their quests. Leading the pack on our return tomorrow will be Jon Christensen with 159,800. Zsombor Gall and Henry Meratan will be chasing close behind. Also lurking are a few well known players like Carlos Mortensen, Theo Tran, and Hevad Khan. The action picks up at 2PM, so be sure to join us when we shuffle up and deal again.

2-7 Triple Draw Lowball (Limit) (Event 55)
Monday, June 29, 2009 to Wednesday, July 01, 2009 Buy-in: $2,500 Prizepool: $593,400 Entries: 258

players left: 162 of 258 entrants

Day 1 Wraps Up That's all she wrote for Day 1 of the $2,500 Deuce to Seven Triple Draw Lowball fun. The day began with 257 runners trying to outdraw each other to the worst hand, and somewhere around 75 of them have survived long enough to try it again tomorrow. The list of players who didn't survive the day is long and full of big names like Robert Williamson III, Greg Raymer, Mike Sexton, Todd Brunson, Erick Lindgren, Marcel Luske, Bill Chen, Barry Greenstein, and on and on it goes. On the flip side of the coin, Tuan Le held the chip lead for much of the day, and he's finished up near the top as play concludes. From the counts, it appears that he has just been edged out by Adam Ewenstein who sealed his 71,800 chips into the plastic bag for the overnight soak. Michael Peltekci, Blair Rodman and Ryan Fisher are also up there near the top of the pack. The remaining players will be back at 2:00pm to pick up with Day 2. We'll be there too, and we hope you'll join us then. Until tomorrow, goodnight from the Rio!
