Casino operator MGM Mirage shuffles management

06.08.2009, LAS VEGAS -- The chief executive of MGM Mirage says its board has realigned the casino operator's management and created an executive position to oversee 11 properties.

Chairman and CEO Jim Murren told employees Wednesday in an e-mail that Corey Sanders has been appointed to the new position of chief operating officer for core brand properties.

Murren says Sanders will oversee five properties on the Las Vegas Strip, including the Monte Carlo and Luxor casino-resorts. Four resorts, including the Bellagio and Mandalay Bay, will still report directly to Murren.

Murren was COO of the company before taking over as CEO in December and had kept the COO duties.

Murren's e-mail says the board approved the changes Tuesday.
