Day 2 Concludes From a starting field of 1.054 players, just 136 returned for today's Day 2. And after nine-and-a-half levels we're down to our final nine.
The nine who are returning outlasted several well known players and top pros along the way today, including Karina Jett, Michele Lewis, Maria Ho, Liv Boeree, Svetlana Gromenkova, Lacey Jones, Mimi Tran, Evelyn Ng, and the First Lady of Poker, Linda Johnson.
La Sengphet, who began the day with an enormous lead over the field, continued to enjoy the chip lead for most of Day 2. Eventually, though, others rose to Sengphet's challenge, with Kami Chisholm -- a.k.a. "Dr. Kamikaze" -- at times occupying the top spot when Sengphet was not.
By the end of play, however, it was Sidsel Boesen -- who was involved in multiple big hands with Sengphet today -- who is our overnight leader. Here are the counts at night's end:
Chiplead Vanessa Hellebuyck - 277,000 Holly Hodge - 279,000 Allison Whalen - 344,000 Kami Chisholm - 529,000 Sidsel Boesen - 789,000 Bonnie Overfield - 226,000 Loren Watterworth - 75,000 Timmi Derosa - 437,000 La Sengphet - 206,000
Though their stacks are unequal, all nine women will be returning with the same dream tomorrow of winning a WSOP bracelet. After some discussion, it was decided they will return at 3 p.m. local time tomorrow to continue their quest.

Day 2 is a Wrap It was just about twelve hours ago when 108 players meandered into the Orange section of the Amazon Room to take their seats for Day 2 of Event #23, the $2,500 Limit Hold'em extravaganza. After ten levels of bet, two bets, three bets, we've made it down to our final twelve, and it's time to close up shop for the morning.
A whole wagon load of notables were wheeled out of here in the early going today. Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier was one of the first to stroll back out the door, and it wasn't long before the likes of Joe Sebok, Mike "GoLeafsGoEh" Leah, Erik Cajelais, Andy Bloch, Annie Duke, J.C. Tran, and Vitaly Lunkin followed him off to the Bad Beat Bar.
The money bubble came and went without so much as a whimper, and we went straight from 34 players on into the payouts for the final thirty-two. Just limping into the cash list were Martin Kabrhel, Justin Bonomo, Phil Gordon, Shawn Buchanan, Michael Binger, and Rafe Furst.
That still leaves us with a few familiar faces at night's end. JJ Liu has been up near the top of the counts for about two days, and she finished up in good standing with 182,000. Dutch Boyd has been up and down a bit, but he had himself a fine second half of Day 2 to close with 348,000 in his chip bag. Al "Sugar Bear" Barbieri has been waiting for his spots for two days now, and he finally picked up some chips as the night wore on. He finished with 415,000, and that's good enough to set the pace heading into tomorrow's final day.
We'll be back at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow for the play down to the bracelet. Sometime during the late night or early morning hours, one of these twelve players will be hoisting a shiny gold bracelet. We'll see you then!
Chipcount 1 Al Barbieri 415,000 2 Albert Minnullin 358,000 3 Christopher Vitch 352,000 4 Dutch Boyd 348,000 5 Brian Meinders 300,000 6 Anh Le 289,000 7 Julian Parmann 202,000 8 JJ Liu 182,000 9 Dana Kellstrom 151,000 10 Domenico Denotaristefani 110,000 11 Jeff Norman 102,000 12 Chuk Danielsson 75,000 13 Eduardo Miranda 63,000

Day 1A Comes to an End Day 1A has officially come to an end since we have reached the final 15% of the today's field. 1,931 players started the day and we are now just 290 remain. These players will join the survivors of tomorrow's Day 1B tournament on Monday for Day 2 of the third $1,000 no limit event of the series.
The day started with a number of notables including Kathy Liebert, Hevad Khan, Shannon Elizabeth, Eric Baldwin, Jeff Madsen, Dennis Phillips and Antonio Esfandiairi, just to name a few. Unfortunately, none of these players managed to make it to the end of Day 1A. However, a number of pros navigated the field and will return for Day 2. They include Arnaud Mattern, Veronica Dabul, Alex Jacob, and the author of Positively Fifth Street, Jim McManus.
Join us tomorrow at noon local time for Day 1B as we bring you all the action from Event #24.
